3 year old pictures

Last week, Sean had his 3 year old pictures taken and they turned out great! Last year, I couldn't get him to sit still and he threw a tantrum and this year he did a really good job. Enjoy! Sorry they are all over the place as far as formatting - I have trouble figuring out how to design the layout of the pictures. The feature doesn't seem very "user friendly" and Ryan is getting fussy so I need to just post now! If anyone has any tips on how to layout the pictures, send them my way.

And the numbers are in...

Ryan went to the doctor on Wednesday and here are his new stats at 2months and 1 week old:

11.1 pounds (47th percentile)
22.5 inches (46th percentile)

I was surprised that he had gained so much weight, but happy that he's growing so well! I looked back in Sean's baby book and he was the exact same weight at this age - I couldn't believe it. Sean was usually also right around average (50th percentile) for his weight and height. I recall a visit to the doctor when Sean was a baby and Derek and I were a little concerned that he was underweight. The doctor took a look at me and a look at Derek and said that we shouldn't expect to get an elephant from 2 mice. It made us laugh!
Ryan is more alert now and just this weekend started to grab for a toy hanging from his bouncy seat. He smiles a lot more and has starting talking to us. He's struggling a bit with taking naps in his crib, but we're working on it. He still sleeps in his bassinet at night. We hope to transition him to his crib at bedtime next weekend - please keep us in your prayers!

Next doctor's appointment - 4 months!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sean!

Although Sean does not officially turn 3 years old until next week on September 16th, we celebrated his birthday on Saturday. His party was held at a place called "Pump It Up". We decided that we would have his party somewhere other than our house so we didn't have to mess with hosting the party and cleaning up, etc. Pump It Up has 2 big rooms with inflatable jumping houses, a huge slide, and an obstacle course. They also have dates during the week when kids can come and jump and they even have a family night where parents can jump with their kids too!

We rented one of the rooms and had it all to ourselves for an hour and a half. I know at first that may not seem like a lot of time, but it's actually plenty of time. It's a hard workout jumping and running through the obstacle course - it just proved to me that I am out of shape! I think Derek had the most fun at the party! :-) After about an hour of jumping, everyone was getting pretty tired with the exception of Sean. I think he could jump all day if we let him.

After the jumping, we enjoyed pizza and cake in a party room. They had a neat inflatable king's chair for Sean and he loved it. Sean received many cool toys including a digger and several monster trucks which are his favorite toys right now. He likes any kind of car, truck, train, or vehicle! We had a great time! I just still have a hard time believing that Sean is already 3 years old!

First Day of Preschool

Last Wednesday was Sean's first day of pre-school. He's attending school twice a week for about 3 hours. His morning is filled with story time, crafts, playtime, snacks, outdoor play, and more. He has his own coat hook and basket with his picture so he knows which one is his. He also thinks its great that the potty and sink are his size. :-) On the first day, I left to run a couple of errands and felt lost and wasn't sure what to do with myself! We couldn't get him to actually wear his backpack, but we managed to get a couple of pictures of him.

In one of the pictures he looks a little scared, but he didn't cry when we left. The teacher did tell me that he started crying towards the end of class saying he wanted his mommy.
The class may get to visit a pumpkin patch this fall and mommy and daddy get to go too! Also, since Sean's birthday is next week he gets to bring in a special snack and wear the birthday crown - how cute!

Go Bears Football!!!

Football season officially started today and the whole family was dressed in Chicago Bears gear. As you probably know, Derek is from Illinois and grew up a Chicago Bears fan. So I am now a fan by marriage! They played the Colts today and won!!!

We really enjoy watching football and it is so funny how much Sean is into it at such a young age. He's been watching it since he was 15 months old and last year really got into it. He puts on his jersey right when we get home from church, grabs his football, and runs around the house. He and daddy like to play tackle while they watch the game. Sean is really into sports and he has a good throw for a little guy! He also likes to copy what daddy yells at the TV. You often hear him say, "get him, get him!".
While we were visiting our family in Illinois last Christmas, we picked up some clearance Chicagr Bears stuff at Wal-Mart including some onesies for Ryan.

You can get NFL clothing there and its inexpensive, but we're in Broncos country here and rarely find Bears stuff.
GO BEARS FOOTBALL!!!
