Last Day of School

Wednesday was Sean's last day of pre-school and we had lots of fun at the park. His official last day in the classroom was last Friday. I have to admit that I was pretty sad. I love his teachers and I guess maybe I just don't like change. The teachers made a scrapbook of his artwork and pictures and the front of it had a poem that made me teary eyed! My little boy is growing up.
:-(
Daddy on the other hand thinks it's great that Sean is growing up. Now he is more fun to play action figures with and try and teach him how to play sports and games.

The day started with play time on the playground followed by game time which included playing with giant bubbles, playing baseball, and playing with the parachute. The morning ended with a picnic lunch. The teachers also presented each of the kids with a medal which Sean was very proud of.

This summer Sean is going to start swim lessons in June and soccer probably in August. I am excited for him. We are going to AZ this week and Illinois in July. Sean is already talking about his birthday party which isn't even until September!

Sean's current interests are playing board games, video games with daddy, GI Joes, Transformers, and Star Wars. He still enjoys playing outside and playing sports too. We're working on getting him to eat more variety of foods, but Chick Fil A still ranks number one on his list of favorites!

Next year, Sean will continue pre-school 2 days a week and he will be in the "Butterfly" class. His teacher said that they took the kids into the butterfly class on Friday and all of the kids just stood there quiet and wouldn't say anything or go meet the teacher.

Also, last night Sean attended the Awana awards ceremony at church where he received his Cubbie Bear award for completing all of his Bible verses this year. We are so proud of him!

I'm 10 Months Old!

Where has the time gone? Ryan is already 10 months old. It's bittersweet for me: I miss him being a tiny newborn baby, but he's getting to be so much fun at the same time! About 2 weeks ago, he decided to take off into a full crawl and he hasn't looked back. He had been trying to crawl for about a month and finally started to slither like a snake about a month ago. He loves getting into the cabinets and gets very frustrated if he can't open them! I went in to his bedroom a week ago and he was standing up! Good thing we had just lowered the crib!

I love to take pictures of him now because when he sees the camera he gets this big grin like he's saying, I know what you want me to do!

We went to the doctor today because I thought he was suffering from allergies again, but he actually has a sinus infection and an ear infection again. Poor guy - he didn't really act sick. Anyway, he weighed near 17 and a half pounds so he is definitely starting to put weight back on which is good.

Some other things about Ryan at 10 months:

Loves his big brother
Discovered that he likes dogs (well, at least little ones)
Still only has his 2 lower bottom teeth
Likes to eat grilled cheese, Cheetos, potatoes (especially sweet ones), chicken, beans, goldfish, pirate's booty, french toast sticks, yogurt, apples
Can say "mama"
Thinks he is something else when he get use his snack cup all by himself
Is really good at using his sippy cup
Refuses to take a bottle
Is a mama's boy for sure - doesn't like to be away from her
Is very curious about finding a way up the stairs
Still doesn't sleep well at night and certainly not through the night!
Moved to a big boy car seat
Likes to go for walks
Takes his hat off now whenever I put one on him
Likes to dance
That's all that come to mind right this minute, but I am sure there is lots more!

Before we know it, it will be time for a 1st birthday party!

Fun at the Zoo!

The other day I decided to take the boys on a trip to the zoo. We were supposed to go last week with some friends, but it was windy and cold (that's Colorado weather, you never know what you will wake up to!). Well, the morning started off rough because I was running later than I wanted to and when I got to the zoo there were tons of people! I wanted to turn around and go home. I'm not a fan of crowds, but decided to go anyway because Sean was really excited to go and I wanted to go before school got out and it becomes even more crowded. Thankfully, the crowds dispersed after not too long and we had a fun time. The weather was perfect and I got a good workout (the zoo is on a mountain so I was pushing a double stroller uphill for much of the visit!). Ryan even napped a bit in the stroller.
One of our favorite things to do at the zoo is to feed the giraffes. They have several beautiful giraffes and they love to eat crackers! They come right up to you and you can even touch them while they snack away. It was extremely busy in the morning so we had to push through crowds (with a double stroller) to feed them, but we came back in the afternoon and fed them some more before we left. They weren't as hungry, but we managed to lure a couple of them! The Gorillas at this zoo are so amazing. They sit right next to the glass window of their exhibit and stare at you. I got one of them to put it's hand to the window to mine and he also tapped on the window for me. Ryan liked the Gorillas too and just stared at them intently. Sean enjoyed petting a baby wallaby.

School Program

Time to play catch up again! A couple of weeks ago, Sean had a music program at school. He was adorable and just loves to sing. It's amazing how he remembers every word of the songs. His teacher said she will miss his singing next year!

After the program, the kids and parents went back to the classroom for cookies and ice cream sundaes. Sean had been talking about the ice cream sundaes for days.

What a difference in Sean between this music program and the one he had in December. In December, he wanted to stay right with the teacher and he acted shy. This time, he stood all by himself and sang his little heart out! His teachers and mommy and daddy were very proud of him.

One of the songs was called "God Made Me Thumbody Special". The kids put their thumbs together as a motion during the song. It was so cute because Sean just didn't seem to yet have the coordination to hold up only his thumbs so he would hold up his index fingers. During the video of the song, I was holding up my thumbs and you'll see him stop singing and say "no, these are your thumbs!" (talking about his index fingers).

Hope you enjoy the pictures and videos of the program. Sean is the cutie in the white and brown striped polo shirt all the way to the left in the first row. If you get motion sickness, the videos may make you sick because some of them are pretty shaky. I still haven't mastered the skill of videotaping and holding a baby grabbing at the camera at the same time!!! You can also hear Ryan whining in the background at times. These programs always seem to fall during morning nap time.

I hope this makes you laugh

This video of Ryan is so funny and I hope it makes you laugh. Today, Sean and Derek were throwing some action figures on the ground and Ryan starting laughing. It was a big time belly laugh and I don't think I've ever heard him laugh like that for so long.

Superman

I dressed Ryan in his Superman pajamas last weekend and he looked adorable. He didn't seem like a baby anymore since he was not wearing his usual "footie" pajamas. Anyway, Sean used to wear these same pajamas - see the comparison pictures below - do you think they look alike?

Catching Up!

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a couple of weeks, I have been sick and just can't seem to get over it. I think my lack of sleep has something to do with it. Ryan seems to be getting sick quite often too. Not sure if it's because he isn't exposed to as many different germs on a daily basis although he has his brother around who goes to pre-school.

As we approach summer, we are busy finishing up with school, Awana at church, and my mom's MOPs group. I don't really know why, but I feel sad that Sean is almost finished with school. I really like his teachers and I will miss them next year. I'll be a wreck when he goes to Kindergarten.

Not too much new here. Derek went to a church men's retreat with his friend last weekend and he really enjoyed it. It was nice for him to get away in Northern Colorado and relax and spend some time with the guys. He's finished with MBA classes until the fall and he just finished teaching last week. He'll teach one more class this summer.

I worked at my mom's group bargain sale and it was a lot of fun. It was actually the first time that I had been away from Ryan for like 4 hours. He was cranky, but he was also starting to get sick I think. Overall, he's been doing much better with the separation anxiety issue. I've been trying to get into workout routine, but it's really hard. Something always seems to come up: Ryan needs a nap, Ryan needs to be fed, someone is sick, etc. I promise I'm not trying to make excuses! :-)

Sean has enjoyed playing outside in the mud. When he plays outside, it takes me 10 minutes just to clean him up. His new thing is to take a nap on his floor. He takes all of the animals from his bed (big mess!) and sleeps with them on the floor. I've included a picture of this below.

Ryan has been trying to crawl and this past week he started to crawl; well kind of. It was sort of a scoot and when he does get on all fours, he goes backwards. We tried giving Ryan a Popsicle and he freaked out and just started crying! He wanted it, but would cry when he would hold it because it was too cold. You can see from the picture below that he wasn't very happy.

The weather has been up and down as usual. Last week we were wearing shorts and playing outside all day and the last few days have been cold and rainy. The forecast for next week is warm and we are excited!
